Spingtime in Scouting

First of all, thank you again for the great turnout at this year's Blue and Gold Banquet and Religious Awards ceremony. I thought both events were very well done and seemed like everyone had a great time. Congratulations to our new Boy Scouts who have earned the Arrow of Light: Tyler, Zach, AJ, Mitchell, Ryan and Thomas.

I wanted to give you some information for the coming months and events so you can make plans as we move into the Springtime and Summer months. We are planning many great events and opportunities for the boys.

MARCH

We will be holding our annual Pack 153 Pinewood Derby on Sunday, March 22nd in the St. Peter's Gym. The event will begin at 2PM with registration and racing will begin at 3:30PM. You should have recieved your pinewood derby car at the Blue and Gold. If you do not have the car yet please see your den leader.

If you need any help with the rules for our pack we have a link on our website with more information. There is also many other informational sites on the internet that can assist you with design and construction.

We will begin with the den races and then we have a pack race. Additionally, this year we are bringing back the family race. If any of the siblings, Dads or Moms want to build their own car we will be racing these cars at the end for anyone who would like to. You can get extra kits at Michael's in Avon Lake.

APRIL

The theme for April is Dionosaurs so you will not want to miss the April pack meeting. Back by popular demand is Jungle Terry. Jungle Terry will bring some of the decendants of the dinosaur and many of his traveling critters to entertain the scouts.

The April Pack meeting will be April 24th at 6:30PM in the St. Peter's Church basement. You will not want to miss Jungle Terry and his scaly and furry friends.

MAY

We will be awarding our Scouts their new badges at the May Pack meeting. They have been working very hard the entire year and now we honor them with their advancement to the next rank. The May pack meeting will be held on May 15th at 6:30PM. We are still working out the details so stay tuned......

We are also working out the details of our Spring Camping Trip. Dynamic Dave Haney is getting his creative juices flowing to come up with the second installment our the Pack 153 Goldrush. I am not sure who have more fun last year the scouts or the parents so stay tuned for more information on this May camping trip.

JUNE/JULY

June and July we set aside for the scouts to attend the Heart of Ohio Council camping programs. They take place towards the end of the June and beginning of July. There are a variety of programs from Day Camps, Resident Camps and Parent/Scout Overnighter. I encourage you to look at these programs as they always put on a great program with many achievements for the boys to accomplish and the scouts always have a great time.

We will pass on more information as we get it such as dates, cost, etc.

As you can see we have alot planned for the next few months and I would not be surprised if some additional opportunities popped up for the scouts to participate in. Thanks again for your continues support of the scouts and the pack and we will see everybody at the Pinewood Derby.

Yours in Scouting,

Chris Nagel
